Far over the misty mountains cold is a poem found within the chapter “An Unexpected Party” of The Hobbit.

 

‘Völuspá is the first and best known poem of the Old Norse Poetic Edda. The list of names of dwarfs is directly referenced in The Hobbit. Nearly all the names of the Dwarves in The Hobbit are taken from this poem.
