After three centuries buried beneath Mexico’s dense Lacandon jungle, archaeologists believe they have finally located Sak-Bahlán – the legendary “land of the white jaguar” and last stronghold of the rebellious Lacandon-Ch’olti’ Maya who resisted Spanish conquest for over a century.
The tracks showed human activity in the area occurred between 23,000 and 21,000 years ago.
Launched in 1884, the Terra Nova lived a peaceful life as a whaler until she joined Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition in 1910.
The Medieval-era find boasts an image of St. Catherine of Alexandria.
